	Why You Need to Register

The Buddy Walk is a trademarked program of the National Down Syndrome Society. It is very important that the Buddy Walk logo is a nationally recognized symbol that promotes acceptance and inclusion of all people with Down syndrome.

To accurately reflect the number of Walks and people involved, we require groups to register their Walk with the National Down Syndrome Society each year. There are many benefits to registering your Walk with us, including:

• Up to 75 free color posters to help you promote your Walk (You will receive information in early summer 2008 on how to request them) 
• Information on purchasing Buddy Walk incentive prizes and promotional items
• Posting of your Walk and Web on buddywalk.org
• Access to the “Organize a Walk” section of www.buddywalk.org where you can download templates, logos, participate in message board discussions with other Walk organizers and update your Walk information
• An NDSS staff member available to assist you in your planning endeavors
• A customized radio PSA recorded by local talent and a Buddy Walk TV PSA featuring actor John C. McGinley to promote your Walk. (Information regarding the 2008 PSAs will be sent to Walk organizers in early April.  Deadline to request the customized radio PSA and to guarantee a TV PSA is May 15.)
